Hot Stone Reflexology with Al Campbell 17th September and 15th October. £75 per day or £140 both days 10am – 4pm

Al Campbell is a successful reflexologist who combines the power of reflexology with the use of stones – hot and cold.  She will teach you her reflexology routine (quite different to light touch or the one taught in this school) in session one and you practice this before attending the second part where Al will show you how to use the stones along with the routine.

Hot stone reflexology combines the benefits of an individual reflexology treatment with a number of different sized smaller warmed basalt stones to enable deep stimulation of the reflex points.

It is estimated that one stroke with a stone is worth five strokes with the hand, thus Hot Stones reflexology is calculated to be five times deeper and last five times longer than a conventional treatment with the hands alone!

The heat from the stones improves the relaxation response and increases healing through improved blood flow and circulation. The stones can also be used cold to help ease inflammation, cool muscles and heal.

It is quite a different experience to a "conventional" reflexology treatment!

Take your reflexology to the next level.  If you only want to learn her routine without going on to the second day, you can – but be warned – its powerful!!  Students can only attend the second day if they have attended the first day.  Al has attended training where students were ‘left to experiment’ but feels that more guidance is required to really benefit from using the stones and therefore combines the stones with her own style of treatment to give you maximum benefit from the course so that you leave really confident and your clients can immediately benefit

2.30 – 3.00pm            Tea Break

4.30pm                   Finish

Whilst this course is aimed at people with no prior knowledge, Reflexologists will find their knowledge an advantage.  You will gain a deeper understanding of the way emotional aspects and personality are reflected on the feet.  This knowledge can be used in a therapeutic way by those with counselling skills or can be used to interest potential clients into learning more about what their feet can tell them in terms of health or emotional issues. It can also be used as a tool for personal development.

The day will be very intense yet fun.  Attendees will need to bring a pen, paper and wear footwear which is conducive to easy removal.  They may also want to bring a wet wipe, as whilst they won’t be touching the feet, they may want to freshen up first!

The aim of the day is to give techniques to allow the attendee to be able to read emotions and personality from the feet.  The techniques given will allow them to extrapolate and arrive at an answer even when they are presented with something they haven’t seen before.

The morning will be spent covering

  • How do you feel about your feet?
  • Size, width and length of the feet
  • Line from little toe to big toe
  • Individual meanings of the toes and the way this can be applied to the vertical zones
  • Colour of the skin
  • Gaps between toes
  • Webbed toes
  • Bunions

The afternoon will be spent covering

  • Temperature of the feet
  • Skin and related imbalances
  • Nails and related imbalances
  • Meanings of toe shapes
  • Sequence of a treatment
  • How to handle a tearful reaction

Solestry – The Art of Foot Reading – Practical Workshop – Day 2 – 30th March at Jackie Hamilton School

You need to have done Day 1 or Jane’s e-learning seminar (or equivalent) to be admitted straight onto Day 2

The 2 workshops are £160 altogether

Course timings:

9.30 for 10.00am         Start

11.00 – 11.30am         Tea Break

12.30 – 1.30am           Lunch

2.30 – 3.00am             Tea Break

4.30am                   Finish

This workshop aims to allow those who have already attended the Solestry – The Art of Foot Reading seminar to practice their new found knowledge in a supportive environment with experienced foot reader on hand to answer any questions that arise from the readings.  Some people attend this seminar the following day after attending the theory seminar and some people attend much later after practicing their skills to fill their recognised gaps in their knowledge.

This is very much a “hands-on” workshop.  As we can’t anticipate what “feet” will show up on the day, a selection of slides have been prepared just in case we don’t have the variety required, however, after two years of running this course we’ve only had to use the slides of tattoo-ed feet!

The day will begin with an exercise to explain foot reading (to act as a refresher) and then the rest of the day will be spent reading each others feet and reporting back to the group the surprise findings.  Yes!  You can bring and refer to your notes and your books.  This is your opportunity to practice and improve your skills.

If there is a particular query about something you have seen on a foot, attendees are asked to bring a good, clear photograph of about A4 size to share with the group.

The workshop has rather an unusual side-effect.  You will be reading each others feet and swapping partners throughout the day.  There’ll be feedback about how to deliver information, how to release emotional blockages and general coaching skills.  Consequently, each reading you receive will, (as well as giving you ideas about how to do the foot readings effectively,) be sending you on your own personal journey of discovery.  People look very different at the end of the day – more present and more vital.

Be prepared for a very interactive day.

My book “Let’s Read Our Feet!” will be on sale at the seminar, price £15

Please book through Jackie and send cheque for 50% for one workshop if you are doing one, and 50% of both workshops if you are doing both : Jackie Hamilton School, 34 Elm Grove Lane, Norwich NR3 3LF

Further information for you on Bamboo Massage which is a new course here in the UK – please book through Tara, details below

What is Bamboo Massage?
Bamboo Massage is a table massage or seated massage where the therapist uses warmed bamboo tools of varying lengths and diameter to roll, knead and relax muscles with deep tissue techniques and is beneficial in that it brings about increased circulation, relief of sore muscles and a deep state of relaxation.  It is regarded as a body, face and limb massage that incorporates bamboo stalks of varying lengths and diameters to provide drainage, relaxation and reshaping, simultaneously. Bamboo symbolizes suppleness and resilience, straightforwardness and simplicity; and the massage satisfies two major needs: relaxation and well-being.

The Benefits of treatment include:
* Increased circulation due to more surface contact
* More pressure can be evenly administered to the client‘s body
* Pressure is effectively maintained for longer periods of time
* Effective deep tissue work can be done in a shorter amount of time
* Allows pain free deep tissue work for bodies with lots of hair
* Aids relaxation
* Eases muscles aches and pains

How does Bamboo massage work?
It allows the therapist to utilise gravity-assisted leverage with bamboo tolls using their own body weight, while the bamboo tools combined with a special oil, glide over the contours of the client’s body to give a well-needed deep tissue massage. The warmth of the sticks relaxes the body, melting away all the cares of the world as the heat penetrates the deeper layers of the skin surface, increasing circulation, relief of sore muscles, and a deep state of relaxation.

What does Bamboo massage feel like?
This massage is very warming, relaxing and feels exquisite. It brings about an increased circulation, relief of sore muscles and deep relaxation. Clients who prefer to receive a deep tissue and sports massage will love this treatment, as this massage is great for the relief of overused and muscle soreness incurred in all sports and in professions that build up stress.
Benefits to the therapist - By introducing warm Bamboo as a new tool to your massage, you can increase the amount of time spent on each client apply deep tissue to give a longer sessions without your hands suffering from repetitive use type injuries.
Everything you need to learn Bamboo Massage is included in this course.

Title of the therapy:  ‘baby reflex’ and ‘baby reflex for toddlers’

Outline of therapy – baby reflex is a gentle and effective method of Reflexology that mothers and fathers can give to their own babies aged between one to twenty four months.  Qualified Reflexologists who have undergone training to learn the techniques and how to deliver it to parents teach baby reflex to parents.

The ‘baby reflex’ techniques have been developed from fifteen years' research into the best practice of the application of Reflexology to young children. It has followed on from medical research carried out by the founder Jenny Lee into the effects of Reflexology on childhood asthma.

All mothers must first learn baby reflex from a qualified Reflexologist. They can be individually taught or better still be part of a small group of mothers learning baby reflex together with their own babies.

Training Body:  Baby Reflex uses Master Trainers to train qualified Reflexologists in how to work with parents to teach the parents how to use set prescribed reflex points to help with particular childhood ailments such as improving sleep, teething and colic.  All master trainers undergo a four day training course or are qualified in training delivery via accredited bodies such as IPD.  There is ongoing evaluation of training delivered and regular monitoring to ensure quality assurance.

Accreditation:  baby reflex is accredited by the Association of Reflexology, was developed by appropriately qualified experienced professionals with years of Reflexology and medical experience.

Course Details: Reflexologists will undertake two one day training courses.  Day 1 covers baby reflex and covers the following:

  • History, background and research of babyreflex
  • Cautions when treating babies
  • Appropriate documentation to use, such as – Parental Consent Forms, Information for Parents, Guidelines for parents
  • Reflex points used and techniques for teaching
  • Charts and support equipment available
  • Membership of baby reflex and the support offered
  •

This is a practical course, with lots of opportunity for reflexologists to not only practise on fellow delegates but also to experience receiving the particular techniques taught.  There is also continuous monitoring to ensure the techniques are being used appropriately and with the correct guidelines.  Any delegate not grasping the concept or unable to demonstrate safe use, would be encouraged to attend further training and if necessary have one to one support with a master trainer.

Training is accompanied by a full and comprehensive supporting handbook, which details everything taught.

Day 2 follows on from day 1, and can be done consecutively or at a later date.  Day 2 cannot be completed without prior completion of day 1.  This second day covers the following:

  • Review of day 1 and mock baby reflex workshop
  • The difference between treating babies and toddlers
  • Cautions when treating toddlers
  • Hand reflexology refresher
  • Specific techniques and reflex points to be worked
  • Nursery Rhymes to accompany the treatment to encourage toddlers to comply
  •

Course Length – One full day 9.30 am to 5 pm each day

Pre-requisites for attending – Training will only be given to appropriately qualified Reflexologists who have been trained with an approved training provider e.g. AOR, ITEC, FHT.  Web site details:  www.babyreflex.co.uk
