What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient therapy, originated in China, and certainly used by the Egyptians. The therapist uses the hands to apply gentle pressure to the recipient's feet or hands.

How does Reflexology work?
Reflexology is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands relative to all organs, functions and parts of the human body. Applying pressure to these points can bring about amazing results. Reflexology relieves stress, normalises functions, balances the body and relieves pain.

Reflexology is more than a simple foot massage; it treats the entire body through applying pressure to reflexes in the feet which are linked to other parts of the body.

Every single cell in the body is gently stimulated to balance the body and so stimulating the body's own healing mechanism.

Benefits:

  • Improvement in energy levels
  • Relieves pain and promotes quicker healing after strains and injury
  • Improves circulation and lowers blood pressure.
  • Encourages body to heal current disorders.
  • Relaxes mind and body.
  • Health maintenance and disease prevention

We offer an excellent Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology: accredited by ITEC.  Here is the reason why:

If you already have an acceptable Anatomy & Physiology qualification the
ITEC Diploma course will recognise it and you wont have to do it again: either through ITEC/VTCT (certain nursing qualifications may also count).
We now have National Occupational Standards and the syllabus for this and the Association of Reflexology course is virtually the same, the quality of the teaching is certainly the same, except that you won’t need to do the A&P/Business element with the ITEC course if  you have already got it!  Jackie has been teaching the AOR course for years knows you will end up with the highest qualification with ITEC.

See dates and fees page for details.

Those passing the ITEC Diploma in Reflexology can join the Complementary Therapies Association (Embody), Association of Reflexologists, Federation of Holistic Therapists etc etc and will have a top Level 3 qualification

“Any student who qualifies with ITEC is invited to become an Associate member for the first year and as long as the 20 CPD points are accrued they can then upgrade to Full membership. The cost for the Associate membership is £65.00 and the only initial difference is that they are not entitled to use the MAR initials during that first year, but all the other benefits are the same.”

Note from Jackie: Instead of MAR you may use AMAR for the first year to signify that you are an Associate member.

A first aid certificate must be obtained from a recognised body before the end of all the professional courses.  Jackie can organise this with the Red Cross at a cost of only £30.
