Level 3 Massage Diploma

Massage is the use of hands to manipulate the soft tissues of the body, particularly muscles. It can be used for relaxation, stimulation or rehabilitation of the whole body or part of it, promoting suppleness, improving circulation and reducing stress. 

It can be called Swedish Massage, Massage, Holistic Massage - its all the same wonderful treatment! and you will leave the school able to work professionally and start your own business or work in a clinic etc

This course will provide you with a thorough understanding also of anatomy and physiology of the body so that you have a complete knowledge of the structure and functions of each area on which you are working. You will also learn the importance of client care, health and safety and how to market yourself.

You will learn massage theory and most importantly the practical incorporating the classical movements treating the whole body

There is no theory exam for the Massage or Business elements of the course. There is a practical exam with an ITEC examiner coming to the school to assess students and there is an Anatomy and Physiology examination (50 multiple choice question paper) for those who need this qualification.

Prior learning may count towards this diploma, e.g.The AOR  reflexology course A&P and Business which means that you don't have to do them again! AND you get a discount off the course!

You will be able to go on to do Sports Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and more...

The course will include project work and case studies and runs over 7 months.

The treatment routines taught at the school are now on video so that students can practice at home knowing they have the right movements - we support our students as much as we can and this is the latest development to ensure continuity and reassurance. Apply today to learn massageThe full ITEC Massage Diploma includes Anatomy & Physiology, Business and Health and Safety, and a project on complementary therapies. If you already have eg ITEC/AOR reflexology you won't need to do these assignments. If you are a nurse with an anatomy and physiology qualification recognised by ITEC, you will not need the A&P but will need the Business, Health and Safety etc.

  • The course book: Introduction to Massage by Louise Tucker which you will need to purchase beforehand
  • If you are doing the whole diploma course, including anatomy and physiology you will also need: Anatomy & Physiology for Beauty and Complementary Therapies and Anatomy and Physiology Workbook, both by Ruth Hull
  • Succeeding in Business by Pip Hardy and Tony Sumner
  • You will be given a ring binder with your course work/handouts neatly arranged with dividers with contents page, homework schedule – everything!
  • Video access of the treatment demonstrating the massage sequence are freely available to students to give complete reassurance in between classes
  •  1 bath sheet, 3 bath towels, 2 hand towels, antiseptic hand wash gel with pump top action, and a fob watch (Argos sell them for about £5), micropore tape, dressing gown and slippers (or flip flops)
  • To create a professional atmosphere students are required to wear tops supplied by the school (for £10), and wear with it: black trousers, black full shoes with black socks
  • You will have access to the Forum on our website and when you start the course you will be given a password to get into the Students section where you can download loads of information to aid your studies – master documents, all ITEC documents, example case study etc – lots of help to support you
  • A library of therapy books are available for the students to borrow for additional research and background reading

Books:   The Anatomy & Physiology book and workbook are £25 for both
               Massage book by Louise Tucker can be purchased second hand from Amazon
               for a few pence - a new one is about £14
               Business book is around £6
Towels:  Jackie will advise on the supplier etc and they will cost you about £30
Couch:    For home practice. We will give you advice on this - the cost is anything from £80
Uniform: School polo top is £10, Students supply their own black trousers and shoes

Student Insurance: Students join the Complementary Therapists Association for free and are advised to obtain insurance from them for their case studies (£30) or Federation of Holistic Therapists (£25)

A first aid certificate should be obtained from a recognised body before the end of all the professional courses (costs about £30)
